Fire-i™ Board Digital Camera
is a board-level fully operational FireWire 400Mbps camera, complying with IIDC 1.04 specification for industrial uncompressed VGA picture acquisition. Built with 1394 TI chipsets and Sony®'s Wfine CCD sensors, it is a high quality subassembly for OEM use.

Fire-i™ Board Digital Camera offers:
• 400Mbps 1394a, IIDC v1.04 DCAM spec. compliance
• Uncompressed VGA picture up to 30 fps
• Square pixels, 1/4'' CCD
• Full frame electronic shutter with progressive scanning
• On-board 6 pin 1394a port and power jack input 8-30

Dual port Fire-i™ Board Camera (new!)Dual Port Fire-i board Firewire digital camera

This is a new revision of the Fire-i™ board camera in which the daughterboard that hosts the second firewire port has been eliminated and instead the two firewire ports are now soldered on the main camera body.
Furthermore, a basic strobe functionality has been added.
The Dual Port Fire-i™ board camera is available in both colour and b/w models under special request. 


  

 
Fire-i™ Digital Board Camera Remote CCD

 All models (Colour, Black & White) of Unibrain’s Fire-i™ Digital Board Camera can be produced with the unique feature of a Remote CCD connected to the main board via a high reliability and density 6-inch flat cable. Detailed product description can be retrieved from here.

Powering the camera

Fire-i™ Board Digital Camera is powered by the FireWire bus DC voltage, coming from host adapters or other FireWire devices connected with 6-pin cables.

Fire-i™ Board Digital Camera is provided with a DC power input jack connector, that can be used when the FireWire connection does not provide DC power. This happens typically:
- when the FireWire bus is converted to a 4-pin connection
- when, in 6-pin, no powering device is present, even from the FireWire interface. This is the case when using CardBus FireWire adapters or on some laptops with built-in interface.


Even if the FireWire bus is already powered, the DC power input jack of the camera can also be used to reinforce it. The FireWire bus voltage will adapt automatically when needed. A built-in diode avoid any risk of voltages conflict or reverse current flow.

Recommended DC adapter must provide stable regulated output voltage of at least 12VDC, 1 A.
To match camera DC input connector, the jack plug of the DC adapter need following dimensions and polarity as on the figure.
